守護聖人サン・ジョルディ伝説

Jordi という名前は１年前の夏に旅行者だったスペイン人に付けてもらったものだ。

知り合った僕の名前は覚えられないからとのことだった。
遠い国の馴染みのない名前は覚えられないものだ。

お気に入りのスペイン名。
彼らはいまごろ何をしているのだろうか。
きっとあの時と同じように とジントニックで乾杯して、またどこかで騒いでいるに違いない。

カタルーニャ地方の伝説によると

村を襲っていたドラゴンの心臓に槍を貫いた騎士サン・ジョルディさん。

溢れ出したドラゴンの血からは美しい薔薇が咲き

彼は永遠の愛のシンボルとしてお姫様に贈ったそうです。

それ以来、4月23日はサン・ジョルディの日となり、

愛する人たちに美と教養、愛と知性のシンボルとして、

1本の薔薇と1冊の本を贈ってこの日を祝っているそう。

Spanish girls who were traveler to Japan gave me Spanish name "Jordi" a year ago.

As you know, It is difficult to remember Japanese name for them.

According to a legend of Catalonia Spain

One day There was a dragon in a village.  

The Dragon destroyed almost everything and wanted princess as a sacrifice. 

The Knight whose name is Jordi wearing golden armor appear the village with white horse.

And then, A spear through Dragon's heart straight.

A lot of red roses bloomed on sea of blood.

He picked up most beautiful one and offered princess.

Since that, 23th April became National holiday for Spain especially Catalonia area.

Now, They present an rose as symbol of love and an book as symbol of intellectual respectively at that day.
